Family Emergency Fund
HELP WHEN IT’S MOST NEEDED
The Crossroads Family Emergency Fund is an emergency financial assistance program, implemented by the Parent Leadership Advocacy Council, for Crossroads families.
As an organization, we recognize that if basic needs are not being met, it is impossible for scholars to perform academically and meet their learning goals. Immediate, day-to-day needs take precedence, and Crossroads has expanded core-services to match those needs.
WHAT QUALIFIES AS AN EMERGENCY?
The Family Emergency Fund offers support to current families who are experiencing financial hardships due to unforeseen circumstances and for whom there are limited resources to solve the crisis.
These grants are typically used to help with housing, utilities, food, and transportation. Aid is also given to families encountering costly medical expenses related to a family illness, as well as a change in the family situation, that put an undue burden on parents/caregivers.
APPLICATION PROCESS
- Step 1: The family contacts the Executive Director to determine eligibility.
- Step 2: The family completes the online application and submits it to Crossroads.
- Step 3: All identifying information is removed from the application and then reviewed by a committee comprised of the Parent Leadership Advisory Council and staff representatives.
- Step 4: Applicants are notified by email of the committee's decision.
“If parents can’t provide food and shelter for their children, those children can’t focus on their education. The Family Emergency Fund takes the pressure off of our families.”
