Today, the class of 2023 had their direct service day, and spent the morning down in Braddock. There, they met up with Grow Pittsburgh and learned about the process of growing a garden in an urban space. They had the opportunity to try asparagus straight from the ground, as well as fresh, green sorrel. From there, students aided in weeding a garden bed to help preparations for flower planting. The day went quickly, and soon enough, they returned to the Calland Center for some good food and afternoon activities.

We’d like to thank Grow Pittsburgh for the opportunity to come out yet again this year and help out where we can. It was an incredible experience, and we are so grateful for your hospitality!
